Take a stroll along the Wisconsin Concrete Park’s nature trail and enjoy our newest book walk featuring One Day, This Tree Will Fall by Leslie Barnard Booth!

🌳 This beautiful picture book follows the incredible life of a Douglas fir, from a tiny seedling surviving droughts and wildfires to a towering tree weathering centuries of storms. But the story doesn’t end when the tree falls! It shows how a fallen, decaying tree continues to nourish the forest by providing food and shelter for wildlife and helping new life grow.

🍃 It’s a wonderful way to explore the wonders of nature and discover how every part of a forest plays an important role in its ecosystem.

Bring the family, enjoy a walk through the woods, and take a moment to appreciate the amazing story of nature all around us!

As the preservation season begins to wind down, Wynter, one of our seasonal preservationists, is working hard to fill as many cracks in the statues as possible before freezing temperatures arrive.

Why is crack filling so important?

When water gets into cracks in the concrete and then freezes, it expands. That expansion can cause the concrete to break apart—sometimes resulting in pieces of our statues being lost.

By filling and sealing these cracks, we can help keep water out and protect Fred Smith’s sculptures from the damage caused by Wisconsin winters. 🧊❄️

It may not be the most noticeable preservation work, but it’s an important part of caring for the Concrete Park and helping these unique sculptures last for generations to come. ❤️

Thank you, Wynter, for all the hard work you’re putting in before the season comes to an end!
