Public lands belong to all of us. Caring for them takes all of us.
This National Public Lands Day, NJYC of Phillipsburg is proud to celebrate the Corpsmembers who roll up their sleeves throughout the year to protect, restore, and improve the public lands of Northwest New Jersey.
From building and maintaining trails and removing invasive species to restoring wildlife habitat, maintaining pollinator meadows and improving parks and open spaces, our Corpsmembers aren’t just learning about conservation — they’re doing it.
In 2025 alone, NJYCP Corpsmembers helped manage 2,679 acres of open space and completed projects at places including White Lake Natural Resource Area, Bread Lock Park, and the newly established Mt. Pleasant Park.
For us, public lands are more than places to work. They’re an extension of our classroom. They provide Corpsmembers with opportunities to learn conservation skills, build a strong work ethic, experience new career pathways, work as a team and see the tangible impact they can make in their own communities.
And when the workday is over, the trail remains. The habitat remains. The park remains. The impact remains.
On National Public Lands Day, we’re proud to stand alongside volunteers, conservation organizations, land managers and fellow Corps programs across the country through The Corps Network who believe these special places are worth protecting.
Get outside. Give back. Get your hands dirty.
Happy National Public Lands Day from the NJ Youth Corps of Phillipsburg!
