In light of the Supreme Court striking down previous executive orders issued by President Trump denying citizenship to the children of illegal aliens, last week President Trump issued two new executive orders, that would crack down on birth tourism and birthright citizenship. As you know, USJF stood alongside the administration’s policy last year, when we filed a “friend of the court” brief in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, arguing that President Trump’s executive order was constitutional. USJF agrees with the Trump administration that “birth tourism” and other dubious means of obtaining citizenship through birth must be stopped, in order to enhance national security and focus on prioritizing the rights and liberties of American citizens.
Undoubtedly, progressive organizations and international agencies will fight President Trump’s newest executive orders, so USJF will again commit to defending this fundamental change in how we as Americans define citizenship in court, but we need your support.
