Apache Junction is a city located in the northern part of Pinal County, with a small portion extending into Maricopa County, in the state of Arizona, United States. Nestled at the base of the rugged Superstition Mountains, Apache Junction serves as a gateway to one of the Southwest’s most legendary wilderness areas. The city is known for its scenic beauty, Old West charm, and its close proximity to both the Tonto National Forest and the iconic Apache Trail — a historic stagecoach route that once connected the town of Mesa to the Theodore Roosevelt Dam.

The history of Apache Junction is deeply tied to the legends of the American West and Native American heritage. Long before settlers arrived, the area was inhabited by Native American tribes such as the Hohokam and later the Apache, whose presence gave the city its name.
