Welcome back to our Object of the Month highlight series! Today is World Atlatl Day and in celebration SVM wanted to spotlight a replica atlatl and replica projectiles.

The atlatl is a weapon pre-dating the bow and arrow. They’ve been used in many cultures worldwide for thousands of years and have proven to be effective weapons. It is a stick with a hook on the end to hold projectiles. The throwing action used with an atlatl increases the distance, speed, and force of the projectile.

Slide through the images in the rest of this post to see how atlatls are used in action!

Thank you, Chef Nathan Schofield, for sharing your incredible talent at the S’edav Va’aki Museum’s inaugural Harmony Gala. As a featured chef leading our VIP culinary experience sharing dishes and representing Ko’Sin at the Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass, your detail driven, guest focused approach—and deep commitment to community—helped make the evening unforgettable.

All proceeds from the Harmony Gala support the development of our new permanent exhibit, and we are grateful for Chef Nathan’s meaningful contribution to this important milestone.
