Memorial Day is a day of remembrance.

Today, South Mountain Democrats honor the brave service members who gave their lives in defense of this country. Their sacrifice calls us to do more than pause. It calls us to protect the democracy they served.

That means standing up for the freedoms Americans are still fighting to fully realize: the right to vote, access to quality health care, safe communities, strong public schools, affordable housing, economic opportunity, and dignity for every family.

We honor the fallen by remembering that patriotism is not just ceremony. It is service. It is accountability. It is protecting one another. It is building a country worthy of the sacrifices made in its name.

Today we remember.
Tomorrow we continue the work.

The Protect Education Act is a citizen-led ballot measure aimed at adding crucial safety, transparency, and accountability reforms to Arizona’s $1 billion universal ESA voucher program. It focuses on implementing background checks, limiting wasteful spending on luxury items, recovering hundreds of millions in unused funds for public classrooms, and introducing a $150,000 income cap for universal users while preserving ESA vouchers for students with disabilities. ✍️🛡️

The Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) holds an immense amount of power over Arizonan's utility prices.

Unfortunately, the current board (which currently consists of 5 Republicans) has proven to be a rubber stamp for annual price hikes fueled by corporate greed (they approved an 8% increase for APS twice in 2 years). Now they are set to vote for another 14% increase, despite APS's $600 million in profits last year (that's a 30% total increase for those who are counting)!
