This is not about “election security.” It’s about silencing Latino, immigrant, and working-class voters.

The Trump administration and MAGA Republicans are pushing dangerous voter purge tactics and fake proof-of-citizenship schemes designed to strip eligible Americans of their right to vote just before elections.

What is happening in Arizona will not stay in Arizona. This case could open the door for states across the country to carry out last-minute voter purges, weaponize flawed citizenship databases, and strip eligible Americans of their fundamental right to vote just weeks or even days before an election.

We’ve seen this playbook before and we’ll continue to fight it in the courts, in our communities, and at the ballot box.

President Trump and the majority in Congress are using a process called reconciliation to get around objections in the U.S. Senate so they can send ICE and CBP $70 billion more for immigration enforcement with no accountability. At the same time, they want $1 billion of taxpayer money to build Trump a ballroom where the East Wing of the White House was torn down. Their priorities are wrong, and you're paying the price. Voting is how we hold elected officials accountable. If you're eligible and haven't registered to vote, YOUR VOICE AND YOUR VOTE ARE NEEDED!

In Donald Trump's One Big Beautiful ugly bill, Medicaid benefits were slashed, nutrition benefits for the hungry were cut. They want us to believe there isn't enough money for a social safety net. But now Donald Trump has forced the Department of Justice, where his former personal lawyer is the acting Attorney General, to create a $1.8 billion slush fund they'll use to pay Trump's allies, including those who attacked the Capitol on Jan 6 and who beat police officers. Latino voters are paying attention. This is the same corruption we're seeing in ICE enforcement, where the government is paying significantly higher prices for detention facilities than the asking price, and where basic principles and civil liberties are being violated. It's the same corruption we're seeing with insider trading by government officials. Latino voters pay their fair share. Latinos and immigrants pay their taxes. We work hard. We expect our government to reflect that. 📢

From denying oversight to using force against peaceful protesters, this latest incident is part of a growing pattern of abuse, intimidation, and lack of accountability from federal immigration authorities. E Sanchez Barba

This week, Mi Familia en Acción was in Washington, D.C., speaking with Members of Congress about our concerns about giving billions in new funds to ICE and CBP as they were preparing to vote on the reconciliation package.

Senators and Members of Congress are heading back to their states and districts this week. It's an ideal time to call your local Senator or Member's office and remind them that ICE is out of control and needs to be reined in. Tell them you oppose the reconciliation bill that would give $70 billion more for immigration enforcement with zero accountability. Congress must impose real guardrails. ➡️ qr1.be/DOP7

Families should never fear being racially profiled, harassed, or detained at home, in their community, or while attending one of the world’s biggest sporting events. People deserve to live with safety, dignity, and the freedom to celebrate without intimidation. ⚽✊🏽 Thank you to San Antonio Current for amplifying this important travel advisory for families.
