Peoria Unified School District leadership is embroiled in a dispute over an effort by former governing board president Heather Rooks’ attempt to have the Maricopa County Attorney and State Board of Education added to an internal investigation of alleged sexual misconduct. Supt. Horne loves math and applauds the winners of First in Math Love Math Challenge!

Huachuca City School in Tombstone Unified School District has been named the Arizona Department of Education Statewide Math Winner in the First In Math Love Math Challenge!

Led by retiring veteran third-grade teacher Miss Paul, this small but mighty school of 256 students stepped up to the plate and beat the entire state.

Together, Huachuca City School students solved 53,808 math problems — about 7.3% of all 738,309 problems solved across Arizona.

Miss Paul inspired her students, staff, families, and community to believe they could compete with the largest zip codes in the state — and they did.

Congratulations, Huachuca City School! You hit a math home run. ⚾➕🏆
