AZDPS Southern Narcotics District detectives intercepted ten fi****ms and 5,000 rounds of ammunition during a traffic stop on I-10 eastbound in Marana last week. Among the weapons seized were two machine guns and a Barrett .50-caliber semi-automatic rifle. One prohibited possessor was arrested. Investigators believe the weapons were being transported to Mexico.

On May 15, 2026, AZDPS Canine District troopers proudly attended K9 Field Day at Johnson Primary School in Tucson, joining several of our local law enforcement partners. 🚔 🐕
Students met working K9 teams, learned about the vital role police canines have in public safety, and connected with officers from agencies across the community.
Events like this help build positive relationships and give students a firsthand look at the partnerships and dedication behind police work.

Detectives with the AZDPS State Gang Task Force conducted a traffic stop on May 14, 2026, near 14th Street and Baseline Road in Phoenix. During the stop, a narcotics detection canine alerted to the vehicle, prompting a search. Detectives located approximately one pound of methamphetamine inside the vehicle and arrested two suspects.
A related search warrant was subsequently served at a residence near Central Avenue and Dobbins Road. During the operation, detectives arrested a third suspect and seized three fi****ms—two handguns and one Draco rifle—along with three pounds of methamphetamine, over $6,000 cash, and a small quantity of co***ne.
Three suspects were booked into the Maricopa County Jail on felony charges, including drug and weapons offenses.
This investigation reflects our detectives’ continued commitment to combating drug trafficking and to protecting Arizona communities from criminal activity.
