Happy !

In honor of , we celebrate the contributions of Etta Josselyn Giffin (1863-1932), who was appointed librarian of the Library of Congress's reading room for people who are blind when it opened in 1897. She took charge, campaigned for a universal braille system, and introduced readings by local notables. She later became the director of the private National Library for the Blind, where she established a system to send braille books to blind people throughout the United States.
