You may have seen the signage posted at 7th and Fairmount regarding a request to abandon an alleyway. Here’s what we’ve learned:
The request concerns only the north/south alley that separates the lots (not the east/west one).
The purpose is to create a public utility easement so the owner can combine the existing parcels into one larger lot rather than keeping them as two smaller ones.
Here’s the parcel in question. The alley to be abandoned is marked in red, and the proposed utility easement is in green:
Essentially, the property owner wants to consolidate the three parcels (shown below in blue) and develop them as one site, instead of pursuing separate projects for 4011 and the remaining lots. They did mention the connected lots (just east of the 4011 lot, and between the next residence) is not part of the site plan. It is unclear what they intend for that plot.
