Phoenix Sister Cities Spotlight: Do you know what sports are popular in Hermosillo, Mexico? Take a guess …

One of their most popular sports is Baseball. The city has a professional baseball team called Naranjeros de Hermosillo. This team has won 16 titles! One of the most notable teams in the league. Travel to Hermosillo to see them play!

Sister City Spotlight ! Because who doesn’t love cake?

King’s Cake is a special desert that can be served during Le Carnaval De Nice and during Epiphany, a Catholic holiday celebrated on January 6th. Le Carnaval De Nice (Nice Carnival) is one of France’s largest carnival celebrations. The theme this year is “King of Animals.” The celebration just ended on February 27th.

Luiza Monti was an ambassador to Catania, Italy in 2018. She is currently pursuing an interdisciplinary major in Business and Italian along with a minor in Design Studies at Arizona State University. Luiza plans to study abroad at Bocconi University in Milan, Italy this upcoming year. When asked about her experience as a youth ambassador, she said “Being immersed in a culture different from your own is eye-opening and it opened my perspective to so many possibilities in the world.” Luiza said her time as an ambassador motivated her to learn Italian, study abroad, and become more immersed in the global community. We are happy we got to have Luiza as part of our program and look forward to seeing what she does next.
