Proud to see this project through to the finish line — not just as a Councilmember, but as someone who calls South Phoenix home. This moment is about more than infrastructure; it’s about opening the rest of Phoenix to the beauty, culture, and history that lives and thrives in our community. South Phoenix has always been special — and now, more people will get to experience it for themselves.

Yesterday, I joined Mayor Kate Gallego, Councilwoman Stark and Councilwoman Laura Pastor, and our community to unveil Phoenix’s AIDS mural at the Parsons Center for Health and Wellness. This powerful piece honors HIV advocacy and our commitment to ending the epidemic.

Grateful to all who made this possible—art brings us together for a healthier, more inclusive future!

A Big Step Forward for District 7! 🏠✨

Yesterday, we celebrated the opening of a new shelter and resource center in District 7, a major step forward in supporting those experiencing homelessness. This facility isn’t just a shelter—it’s a lifeline to stability, resources, and hope for our community.

Tackling homelessness requires compassion, collaboration, and action, and I’m proud to see Phoenix making real investments in solutions.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped bring this project to life. Together, we’re building a stronger, more supportive city!

It was a privilege to host Andrés Chávez, grandson of César Chávez, in District 7 as he shared his grandfather’s powerful legacy with students from Tolleson Union High School District. Hearing him speak about justice, perseverance, and activism was a reminder of how César Chávez’s work continues to inspire new generations.

A huge thank you to Andrés for visiting and to the students who engaged in this important conversation. The fight for equality and dignity for all workers lives on through each of you! ¡Sí se puede! ✊🏽🌱

Last Friday’s Latinas Shaping the Future Breakfast was nothing short of amazing. Being in a room filled with strong, brilliant, and passionate women reminded me just how powerful we are when we come together.

To every woman who showed up, shared a conversation, and poured into this space—thank you. Your stories, energy, and presence made this event truly special.

A huge shoutout to our incredible panelists The Funky Latina Elyssa Bustamante, from the office Rep. Yassamin Ansari Maria Lopez, Valle del Sol’s Angelina Bravo, and Aliento’s Founder Reyna Montoya, our amazing MC ABC15 Arizona’s Nicole Gutierrez, and our thoughtful Moderator The Arizona Republic’s Elvia Diaz. You all brought so much wisdom and heart to the discussion, and I’m beyond grateful for each of you.

Let’s keep pushing forward, lifting each other up, and shaping the future—together.
