🤔 Hazard Mitiga-WHAT?

Hazard mitigation.

Sounds complicated.

It really isn't.

Hazard mitigation means taking action before the next disaster to reduce the damage it could cause.

Think:

🌊 Reducing flood risk
🔥 Reducing wildfire risk
🏠 Making buildings safer
🌳 Protecting natural systems
🗺️ Planning smarter

Basically: We can't stop the hazard. We can make it harder for the hazard to ruin our day.

🎯 The goal isn't “zero hazards.”

Arizona is keeping:

☀️ Heat
⛈️ Monsoons
🌊 Flash floods
🔥 Wildfire
🌪️ Dust storms

Sorry.

The goal of hazard mitigation isn't to eliminate Mother Nature.

It's to reduce the consequences when natural hazards affect our communities.

We can't control the weather.

We can control some of the choices we make before it arrives.

🏠 What's located there
📊 What could be affected
🌎 How conditions are changing

Then communities can decide what actions make sense to reduce future risk.
