Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming students from Germany to the Maricopa County Department of Emergency Management’s Emergency Operations Center!
The tour, organized through Arizona State University, provided a great opportunity to share insights into emergency response, coordination, and preparedness planning in the United States, and how our systems compare internationally. It was a fantastic exchange of ideas and perspectives, and we truly enjoyed hosting our guests.
As they continue their journey to California, we wish them safe travels and an incredible experience ahead!

Today, we had the opportunity to present at the Sun City West Emergency Management Conference! 🌞
Alongside Maricopa County Public Health, the Arizona Fire & Medical Authority, the Sun City West Foundation, and the Property Owners and Residents Association (PORA), we connected with residents to discuss emergency preparedness, share important safety resources, and hear community concerns about local safety and resilience.
It was incredibly meaningful to engage directly with residents, answer thoughtful questions, and encourage folks to create emergency plans that help protect themselves, their loved ones, and their neighbors.
Thank you to everyone who welcomed us so warmly, and thank you to Sun City West for hosting such an important and impactful conversation.
If your community would like to hear from the Maricopa County Department of Emergency Management, we’d love to connect. Whether you’re looking to ask questions, share resources, or host a community event like this one, visit maricopa.gov/ready to learn more.

Our Emergency Management team activated the Emergency Operations Center last week to support the Town of Wickenburg’s response to the Jones Fire. From coordinating the regional response and issuing Wireless Emergency Alerts, teams worked together to help keep residents informed and safe. Emergency Management Coordinator Joseph Cruz deployed to assist the Town’s incident management team in both operations and planning roles. Staff also supported the Disaster Assistance Center (DAC). The Town of Wickenburg continues to show both generosity and resilience to their residents and to each other. The Wickenburg Community Hospital and American Red Cross were on scene at the DAC and assisted residents with recovery efforts, while community members stepped up with incredible donations, supplies, and support. Wickenburg was able to reach every impacted individual at the DAC. In difficult moments, the strength of this community is evident in the way people come together to help one another.
