Walid’s Fund, under the supervision of Khaled Jurdi and training by Sheikh Khodor Nasr, completed a one-year beekeepers’ course in the Chouf area and held a dinner to honor the participating students. Beekeeping hives, clothes, and tools were also distributed.

Beekeeping is not only a noble act that helps protect the environment, but it also provides self-sustainability for these nine families. Each student was provided with tools, hives, and bees to start a new journey in the world of beekeeping.

We are proud of this great step and look forward to seeing its positive impact on society and the environment. Special thanks for the contribution of Tom Oliphant and Dr Willard White, we are committed that this program will be continued in different regions around Lebanon.

2018 Syrian Refugee Initiative

A personal development program designed to help refugees discover their innate talents and skills for building self-reliance and new enterprises within their camp communities. The project combines onsite coaching, team building, and community enterprises that encourage self-reliance and shared activities for the betterment of all camp residents.

Walid's Fund is committed to a thorough test of this model, an approach not yet attempted by any agency working with Syrian refugees. The founders of Walid’s Fund understand the challenges of working with a traumatized and under-resourced population living in isolation from their host population.

The 40-day program will reveal the potential for this model for the residents of the seven camps in South Lebanon and the potential for replicating this model in other refugee camps.
