New Benson learning center opens with governor's ceremony BENSON — Benson Primary School third- and fourth- grade students got a surprise visit from Governor Doug Ducey last Wednesday.

Governor Doug Ducey was in Benson yesterday celebrating the opening of a new elementary school there. The Frank "Chic" Maldonado Learning Center at Benson Unified is the first Arizona K-12 school built entirely with state funds in more than 13 years. Click https://bit.ly/2uAV26h for more details.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced on February 6, 2020 that Star Water Systems has recalled about 33,000 sump pumps sold under the Utilitech, Do it, and Star Water Systems brands because the pumps can overheat, posing a fire risk. Today Arizona School Facilities Board Executive Director Andy Tobin took a field trip to two Arizona school districts— Yuma Union High School District and Quartzsite Elementary School District #4— to talk about his direction for the SFB and hear what’s important to these districts and their communities.
