New Benson learning center opens with governor's ceremony BENSON — Benson Primary School third- and fourth- grade students got a surprise visit from Governor Doug Ducey last Wednesday.
AZ School Facilities Board is a state-government agency managing nearly $300 Million in state funding appropriated for K-12 school district facilities.
The 10-member Board meets monthly to grant funding for new schools and to renew existing facilities. The School Facilities Board establishes minimum school facility guidelines, assesses school buildings against these guidelines, and provides monies to bring the buildings up to the guidelines.

Governor Doug Ducey was in Benson yesterday celebrating the opening of a new elementary school there. The Frank "Chic" Maldonado Learning Center at Benson Unified is the first Arizona K-12 school built entirely with state funds in more than 13 years. Click https://bit.ly/2uAV26h for more details.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced on February 6, 2020 that Star Water Systems has recalled about 33,000 sump pumps sold under the Utilitech, Do it, and Star Water Systems brands because the pumps can overheat, posing a fire risk. No injuries have been reported. School districts with any of these three branded sump pumps are urged to click this link https://bit.ly/3bkkpd4 and contact Star Water Systems immediately for a remedy.

Today Arizona School Facilities Board Executive Director Andy Tobin took a field trip to two Arizona school districts— Yuma Union High School District and Quartzsite Elementary School District #4— to talk about his direction for the SFB and hear what’s important to these districts and their communities.
