Please extend a thanks to Dr Jeffrey Singer for the recent advocacy for Nurse Anesthetists and Governor Ducey’s decision to make Arizona the 18th state to Opt-Out of CMS physician supervision requirements.
If nurses are certified to offer anesthesia, why must a doctor watch them do it? Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists are now allowed to practice independent of physicians or surgeons. But there are efforts to undo that.
