As we mark Domestic Violence Awareness Month, it was an honor to remember those we've lost — and stand with those who have survived — at a healing vigil with A New Leaf and Apache Junction Police Department.

September is recognized as National Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness about spinal cord injuries while recognizing the experiences, accomplishments, and contributions of those living with SCI.

This month, the Cochise County Attorney’s Office recognizes one of our own, Deputy County Attorney Raymond E. Haight, whose story reflects more than five decades of perseverance, opportunity, and public service.

Raymond has lived with a spinal cord injury since October 1969. The son of Steven and Eleanor Haight of Barker, New York, he became the first student with a spinal cord injury to be mainstreamed into his public school in 1974.

He went on to graduate from the University of Missouri School of Law in 2000 and was admitted to the Missouri Bar that same year. In 2012, he joined the Arizona Bar, and since 2020, Raymond has served with the Cochise County Attorney’s Office, where he currently serves as the HIDTA Prosecutor in the Drug Bureau, prosecuting high-intensity drug trafficking cases.

During Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Month, we are honored to recognize Raymond and the unique experiences, dedication, and perspective he brings to our office and to the people of Cochise County 💚

CCAO was honored to join the Navajo Nation Judicial Branch in Window Rock for the grand opening of its T’áá Shí Ádá’asht’į Bá Hooghan (Self-Help Center).

County Attorney Ammon Barker and Executive Assistant Jennifer Yazzie attended at the invitation of the Judicial Branch. We’re grateful for the continued partnership and shared commitment to expanding access to justice and Peacemaking.
