As of this morning, projected impacts to Picayune appear minimal; however, hurricanes are not predictable, and tracks can shift quickly. Out of an abundance of caution, the city is taking proactive steps to prepare. Please monitor local news outlets for the most up-to-date information about the hurricane.

The city of Picayune utilizes a mass notification platform as a tool for delivering critical emergency alerts and community updates directly to our residents. If you have not registered yet, we strongly encourage you to sign up today.
This service can push alerts via email, text message, or direct phone call. If you miss an official phone alert call, you can dial that number back to listen to the recording as long as the alert remains active.
3 Easy Ways to Sign Up:
1. Online via the Web Portal:
Customize your notification preferences and contact methods directly through the CivicPlus Resident Portal:

2. Quick Text Opt-In:
If you want immediate text alerts on your phone without filling out an online form, simply text PicayuneMS to 38276.
(Note: Official city text alerts will come from short code 38276—it is safe to open and click links sent from this number.)
3. Download the Mobile App:
Download the free MyAlerts app in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store to manage your alerts and receive direct push notifications (including general weather updates through the app).
Please take a few moments to register today so we can keep you and your family safely informed. This also replaces our NotifyMe alerts through the website. Stay safe and weather alert, Picayune!
6:00 PM update:
There isn’t much of a change for Picayune at this time. The storm is forecast to hit a little further east than what was predicted this morning. However, it does not hurt to prepare in the event said forecast changes.
10/9 10:10 update
Picayune is currently on the calmer, western side of Hurricane Isaias. The brunt of the storm is tracking well to our east, with landfall expected tonight between Mobile and Pensacola.
Local Expectations:
• Winds: Breezy conditions today, with gusts up to 30 mph possible through Saturday afternoon.
• Rain: Scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely tonight into Saturday.
• Impacts: Localized threats remain low, but please secure loose outdoor items and stay weather-aware.
The Picayune Community Saferoom will open at 12:00 PM today and remain open until 12:00 PM tomorrow at 501 Laurel Street. As a reminder, this facility is a saferoom only, and no food, bedding, or supplies are provided. Residents must bring their own essential items, including food, water, prescription medications, blankets, and comfort items.
We will keep you updated here if needed.
