Pilot Point is a close-knit community, and when something affects our schools, it naturally matters to all of us. Our students, teachers, families, and school staff are an important part of what makes Pilot Point such a special place to live.
In light of the recent announcement from Pilot Point ISD, I want to express my continued support for our school community and the importance of allowing the process that has been put in place to move forward.
One of the strengths of our community is that we have dedicated individuals serving in different areas of local government. Our City Council and our PPISD Board of Trustees each have distinct responsibilities, but we share a common goal: doing what is best for the people of Pilot Point.
Our elected School Board Trustees have the responsibility of overseeing school district operations and personnel matters. Just as the City Council is entrusted with making decisions on behalf of our city, our School Board is entrusted with making decisions on behalf of our school district. Respecting those responsibilities is an important part of good governance.
The district has communicated that an independent investigation is underway and that no findings have been made at this time. It is important that the process be allowed to proceed fairly, thoroughly, and without speculation.
While our respective governing bodies have different responsibilities, our commitment to the students, families, and future of Pilot Point remains the same.
I encourage our community to continue supporting our teachers, staff, and students as they carry on with the important work of education. They deserve our encouragement and appreciation.
Pilot Point has always been a community that comes together, and I am confident that our shared commitment to one another will continue to be one of our greatest strengths.
