Fun Fact Friday!

Even the plumbing has a story to tell!

During the restoration of the Farmers & Merchants Bank, we came across this old piping and valve system. It’s one of those details you might walk right past without realizing you’re looking at a piece of the building’s history.

While the bank’s exterior gets most of the attention, discoveries like this give us a glimpse into how the building functioned behind the scenes all those years ago!

Next up for the west wall rebuild! Once the stem wall concrete has fully cured, we’ll begin installing the newly delivered CMU (concrete masonry units). Stay tuned for more progress!

Lighting the Way for What’s Next!

With the new West Wall stem wall poured, natural light is no longer reaching the basement. So our crew has installed temporary lighting to keep the restoration moving!

Now, work can continue safely as crews excavate and install additional helical piers to strengthen the building’s foundation.

It may not be the most glamorous part of restoration, but every step is bringing us closer to transforming this historic basement into The Vault!

Joel has been hard at work removing the overgrown vines that have attached themselves to the exterior walls of the bank. Another step in cleaning up and restoring FMB Legacy!

West Wall Update: Concrete Is Going In!

With the piers installed in the footer and rebar in place, crews are now pouring concrete into the forms for the new stem wall, which will help support the reconstructed wall.

Next up? The concrete will cure for approximately 3 days before the forms are removed and construction begins on the CMU (concrete block) wall.

After months of taking down, we’re finally building back up!

Picture of the Week!

A familiar face behind the teller window! Janice Sheppard stepped into the role of bank teller during the Bonnie and Clyde Days reenactment, helping bring a piece of Pilot Point’s history back to life!

Fun Fact Friday!

Did you know that the Farmers & Merchants Bank in Pilot Point was never actually robbed by Bonnie and Clyde? However, the historic bank was featured in the 1967 film Bonnie and Clyde, starring Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty!

While the robbery was Hollywood magic, the bank’s connection to the iconic film is a real part of Pilot Point’s history!

A little glimpse into the past!

This week’s FMB Finds features some unique pieces of history, including an antique cot, a beautifully carved wooden mirror, and a Black Forest-style cuckoo clock with intricate details and a hunting-inspired design!

Each of these pieces reflects the craftsmanship and everyday life of years gone by. We love uncovering and sharing these treasures as we continue preserving the history of FMB Legacy!

Which of these antique finds is your favorite?
