ππ¬ Learning Beyond the Classroom at Nutrien! π¦Ίπ±
On October 14, our students had an incredible opportunity to explore environmental science in action during a special event day at Nutrien in Aurora! Through hands-on learning activities and a behind-the-scenes tour of the active mine pit, students explored the science of mining, water quality, land reclamation, and environmental stewardship while discovering real-world STEM careers.
This experience was made possible through Mrs. Smith's fellowship with Kenan Fellows Program for Teacher Leadership at NC State University, which provides educators with immersive experiences alongside industry professionals so they can bring real-world knowledge and meaningful learning opportunities back to their classrooms. As part of this fellowship, Mrs. Smith spent 120 hours working alongside Nutrienβs environmental team over the summer, learning about their work and collaborating with them to plan this special event that brought real-world environmental science to our students!
We are incredibly grateful to Nutrien for welcoming our students, sharing their expertise, and helping bring science to life in such a memorable way! Experiences like these show students that science isn't just something they learn in a textbook. It's happening all around them, right here in our own community!
πThank you, Nutrien, for investing in our students!
