On Tuesday May 26th 2026, the Pineville Fire Department officially opened the doors and moved operations into our new firehouse at 311 N. Polk St., marking the beginning of a new chapter in serving our community.

The ceremony began with the crew from Engine 1 lowering the American flag at the old firehouse on Church St. and transferring it to the new firehouse where it was proudly raised once again. Chief Gerin, along with Mayor Amelia Stinson-Wesley, Town Manager Ryan Spitzer, Kim Parton from Stewart Cooper Newell Architects P.A., and Tim Bender and Bill Cuddlebeck from Edifice Construction shared brief remarks before a symbolic “Uncoupling Ceremony,” similar to a ribbon cutting, officially opening the new station. Community members were able to tour the firehouse shortly after the event.

Members and their families, Town of Pineville employees and council members, town residents, along with several surrounding fire and police departments attended the celebration.

This 27,000-square-foot firehouse features 5½ apparatus bays, a training tower, administrative offices, a training room/EOC (Emergency Operations Center), and was designed with future growth and expansion in mind for additional personnel. Designed by Pineville firefighters and with input from membership, guided by Stewart Cooper Newell Architects P.A. and built by Edifice Construction, this firehouse is the result of years of planning and a 15-month construction process.

This building represents the Town of Pineville’s continued commitment to providing the highest level of fire protection, emergency response, and public safety services to the community for generations to come. So thank you.

We would also like to thank the following departments for their support and attendance:

• Pineville Police Department• Indian Land Fire Department• Flint Hill Fire Department• Steele Creek Fire Department• Charlotte Fire Department• Rock Hill Fire Department• Fort Mill Fire Department• Mint Hill Fire Department

The support from our neighboring departments and community partners continues to strengthen the relationships that help keep our communities safe every day.

For 57 years, the members of the Pineville Fire Department answered thousands of calls, saved countless lives, and protected millions in property — all while proudly serving this community from 108 Church St.

Tonight marks the final night of operations from this community-built firehouse. Over the decades, this firehouse has witnessed the department evolve from an all-volunteer organization to a combination volunteer and paid department to meet the growing needs of the Town of Pineville.

This building holds generations of memories, dedication, sacrifice, and service. It has been home to firefighters who answered the call day and night, always putting the community first.

As Pineville continues to grow, your fire department must grow with it. Beginning tomorrow, the Pineville Fire Department will officially begin operations from our new home at 311 N. Polk St. — a modern firehouse built to serve our community for generations to come.

While the address may change, our commitment to the citizens of Pineville never will.

Thank you to everyone who helped build the legacy of 108 Church St. We will never forget where we came from

Yesterday, the Pineville Fire Department was dispatched to assist the Indian Land Fire District with a residential structure fire. Pineville Car 2 (Deputy Chief) arrived within minutes and reported heavy smoke showing from a single-family dwelling. Engine 1, along with Car 1 (Fire Chief), arrived shortly after and stretched the initial attack line. Pineville Tower 1 arrived and crews made access to the roof for operations.

Conditions inside the structure deteriorated rapidly, leading to a catastrophic event that forced crews to bail out of the residence. A mayday was declared as firefighters worked to safely exit the structure. All crews were accounted for and safely evacuated with minor injuries.

Indian Land crews arrived and transitioned operations to a defensive exterior attack. An Indian Land Battalion Chief assumed command of the incident while state officials remained on scene to conduct the investigation.

Three firefighters were transported with injuries and were later released from a local hospital. Please keep all personnel involved in your thoughts as they recover.

Today marks 10 years since we lost Richard Sheltra.

Not a day goes by that you aren’t on our minds. We continue to ride in your honor, carrying your legacy with us on every call, every shift, every moment in the firehouse. With each passing year, it doesn’t get any easier—but it reminds us why we do this job and who we do it for.

From the seasoned veterans to the newest members joining the department, your story is told, your sacrifice is remembered, and your impact is felt. You are a part of every rig that rolls out the bay.

We will always carry you with us.

We will Never Forget #73!!!
