..DENSE FOG ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM CDT THIS MORNING...

* WHAT...Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.

* WHERE...Cottonwood, Lincoln, Lyon, Murray, and Pipestone Counties.

* WHEN...Until 10 AM CDT this morning.

* IMPACTS...Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Please be prepared for rapidly changing
visibility conditions especially for areas along the Buffalo Ridge
in southwest Minnesota.

A 9-11 golf outing is underway at the Pipestone Country Club. Jeff Douty spoke about the events of Sept. 11, 2001 and played an audio clip of Pres. George W. Bush from that day before participants and local emergency responders headed outside for a photo beneath the flag. Funds will be raised for the Pipestone Veterans Memorial during the event.

..WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM TO 7 PM CDT FRIDAY...

* WHAT...South winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected.

* WHERE...A portion of southwest Minnesota.

* WHEN...From 7 AM to 7 PM CDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree
limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high
profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

Evelin is a college student from Estonia. She will be going door to door around Pipestone presenting and selling educational materials. She is not affiliated with the local schools and is selling these materials as a way of fulfilling her summer internship.

Evelin has received a solicitors permit from the City of Pipestone and is carrying proof of her registration.

.HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 9 PM CDT THIS
EVENING...

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 100 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of northwest and west central Iowa, southwest
Minnesota, northeast Nebraska, and central, east central, south
central, and southeast South Dakota.

* WHEN...From 1 PM this afternoon to 9 PM CDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car
interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.

..A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 745 PM CDT FOR WESTERN PIPESTONE...MOODY AND NORTHEASTERN MINNEHAHA COUNTIES...

At 719 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from near Flandreau to near Egan to near Dell Rapids,
moving east at 35 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.

To report severe weather contact your nearest law enforcement agency.
They will send your report to the National Weather Service office in
Sioux Falls.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
