What exactly are voters being asked to consider?

On November 3, 2026, Pipestone Area Schools voters will consider an operating referendum.

The proposal would replace the district’s current operating-referendum authority of approximately $474 per pupil with a new authorization of $1,500 per pupil.

The $1,500 is district revenue authority per adjusted pupil unit. It is not the amount an individual household would pay.

Throughout this week, we’ll share the need, the cost, tax information, student opportunities and answers to common questions.

🚌 It’s School Bus Safety Week!

Help keep students safe on their way to and from school. When a bus is stopped with its red lights flashing, stop and give students plenty of room to cross. Slow down near bus stops, stay alert, and put your phone away while driving.

Students, remember to wait until the bus comes to a complete stop, listen to your driver, and look both ways before crossing.

Thank you to our bus drivers, Ludolph Bus Service, and families for helping every student get to school and home safely! 💛

What a way to wrap up the season! The Marching Arrows took 1st Place in Class 2A in Vermillion, SD, sweeping all five caption awards: Best Music, Visual, Overall Effect, Percussion, and Color Guard!

Their success reflects the hard work, dedication, and opportunities that help our students thrive. 💚🖤

Supporting our students means investing in their future. The operating referendum would help Pipestone Area Schools continue providing the programs, resources, and opportunities that make achievements like these possible.

Congratulations to the Marching Arrows on an incredible season! Every student deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed!

In Junior Kindergarten, our hands build towers, our imaginations create worlds, and our minds learn that the best solutions often come from working together.

What looks like play is the foundation of learning to think, create, collaborate, and believe in what’s possible!

This week Pipestone Elementary STEM/Technology 2nd grade students are logging into a Chromebook for the second time. Each student must type in their specific email address and password in order to make the Chromebook work.

These are the "I Can" Statements for the lesson students completed in one 45 minute technology/STEM class:

I can sign into a Chromebook by myself.
I can use a mouse and trackpad to navigate the Chromebook.
I can press the shift key and the number 2 key to key the @ symbol by myself.
I can understand that pressing the backspace key will delete what was typed one space back.
I can press the enter key to advance my logging in efficiently.
I can protect my password by not sharing it with others.
I can search the internet safely by using the search key on the Chromebook.
I can minimize and maximize Chrome Screen by pressing on the square icon.
I can hide or show my Chrome screen by pressing on the minus icon or touching on the app icon.
I can sign out of the Chromebook by myself.

As you can see our students are very tech savvy and working towards being better Communicators as part of the Portrait of a Graduate. Elementary STEM/Technology lessons help make our students ready for 6th-12th grade and beyond!

Mrs. Pulscher’s third grade class has a life skill for each skill, and October’s focus is Active Listening.

Students spent time role playing conversations through task cards in small groups to practice active listening, problem solving, and engagement in communication skills.

As collaborators and communicators, this group is working hard to support their education and relationships through Active Listening!
