Get to Know Our Candidates: Justice Anita Earls

Justice Anita Earls is a civil rights attorney who is running for re-election to the N.C. Supreme Court.

Justice Earls was first elected to the state Supreme Court in 2018. She has led a 30-year career in which she stood alongside people whose right to vote was denied, people who were mistreated at work, and the parents of children being denied equal educational opportunities.

She has served as a deputy assistant attorney general in the U.S. Department of Justice, and worked at the UNC Center for Civil Rights. In 2007, she founded the Southern Coalition for Social Justice, a nonprofit legal advocacy organization that partners with historically marginalized communities across the South.

There is still time to volunteer to be an Indoor Poll Observer.

Indoor poll observers are the only people allowed inside polling sites while voting is taking place, other than election workers and voters. They help ensure election laws are followed, identify potential issues, and report concerns so they can be addressed quickly. You’ll get a front-row seat to democracy in action—and help make sure everything runs as it should. Sign up for training here.

We’ve got candidate signs at our Community Engagement Centers in Pittsboro and Siler City. They are free to good homes. (Although we never turn down contributions.)

Just stop by to pick up one – or a few – for your yard!

We still need a few Poll Greeters! WE HAVE A SPECIAL NEED FOR SPANISH SPEAKING GREETERS IN SILER CITY. Mobilize sign-ups are live for early voting poll greeting for the 2026 General Election.

Poll greeting is one of the most important activities volunteers do. We greet voters at the polls, offer them the Sample Democratic Ballot, encourage them to vote for ALL OFFICES on BOTH SIDES of the ballot, thank them for voting, and encourage them to connect with Chatham Dems to get information about upcoming elections.

We also provide a friendly face for folks who may not be entirely comfortable or who may be unsure about the process of voting in person.

There will be five early voting sites:
CCCC Health Science Building, 75 Ballentrae Court, Pittsboro
Chatham County Agricultural Center, 1192 US Highway 64, Pittsboro
Goldston Town Hall, Goldston Town Hall, 40A Coral Avenue, Goldston
Earl B. Fitts Community Center, 111 S. Third Avenue, Siler City
Holland Chapel Church, 360 Burgess Road, Apex
