The BGEA Juvenile Justice Work Group has sought to address this problem by building a wide network of community partners to address issues of the school-to-prison pipeline, school pushout, lack of trust in law enforcement, access to services, lack of mental health services, lack of trained professionals and a system disconnected from communities.

The BGALA Summer Paid Internship is accepting applications NOW! This is a real, paid opportunity for young Black women in Allegheny County to develop leadership skills, conduct research, and advocate for change in their community.

Here's what you need to know:

Requirements: Live in Allegheny County, be at least 14, enrolled in high school for 2026-2027, and identify as a Black girl

Dates: Monday-Thursday, June 22 through August 13
