School’s Out: Support That Shows Up All Summer Long

Across Amachi Pittsburgh, your generosity fuels consistent, caring support for children and families impacted by incarceration: in schools, neighborhoods, homes, and throughout the community.
As the school year comes to a close, that support looked like this:
Youth and mentors built trust and safety through Sanctuary®‑based activities and community outings
Families engaged in workshops and shared‑meal programming that blended resources with relationship‑building

Young people celebrated milestones from college acceptances to first job offers

Returning citizens and their families strengthened communication and emotional‑intelligence skills during re‑entry preparation.

When school lets out, the need for consistency doesn’t take a break.
Monthly giving ensures Amachi Pittsburgh can show up all summer long — creating safe spaces, deepening relationships, and providing stability when routines change. It’s what turns year-round presence into lasting impact.

Give today to sustain Amachi’s full circle of support — wherever families need us most.

🚐✨ HERE4U Amachi On The Move!

We pulled up to Phillips Rec Center in Carrick and turned learning into a whole experience 🔥 Youth jumped into interactive sanctuary scenarios, explored the power of the 7 Commitments, and showed up ready to grow, reflect, and lead.

And of course… they didn’t leave empty-handed 👀 Each participant earned their very own 7 Commitments journal 📓💭

This is what it looks like when community, creativity, and healing come together 💙

When a child grows up carrying the trauma of a parent’s incarceration, the carefree moments others take for granted—play, safety, imagination—are replaced with adult-sized burdens no child should ever be forced to endure.
Yet more than 35,000 young people in Allegheny County experience this
heartbreaking reality. That’s why we invite you to join us for the 2026 Amachi Hachi Pachi on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh. ( ) This year’s theme is Play It Forward: Let Kids Be Kids.

This unforgettable, adults-only event brings together more than 300
business leaders, innovators, and community stakeholders for a purpose that stretches far beyond one night. Guests will explore hands-on,imaginative activities, enjoy whimsical food and drink, and celebrate amazing champions for children—all while reconnecting with something many of us lose along the way: our own inner child. After all, adults deserve recess, too.

When we remember what childhood should feel like, we’re reminded of
our responsibility to protect it for every kid. Since 2003, Amachi Pittsburgh has been living that conviction—serving as a beacon of hope and providing stability where systems too often fall short. Together, we can “play it forward” and ensure that children who need us most have the chance to simply be what they are, kids.
