CPSC has secured the removal of hazardous male-to-male extension cord listings from major e-commerce platforms, including Walmart, eBay and AliExpress, and is warning consumers to stop using these products immediately.
The cords are often used to supply power from a generator to a residential electrical system, a dangerous practice known as backfeeding that that can result in serious injury or death from electrocution or fire.
Their short length also increases the likelihood that generators will be operated in enclosed spaces or too close to homes, creating a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Starting this evening, March 22, severe weather is expected to impact our service territory. The National Weather Service is forecasting hail with potential for up to 60 mph wind gusts along with the possibility of isolated tornadoes.
Given these conditions, we are staffing extra crews to safely respond to any power outages as quickly as possible.
We strongly encourage our customers to follow these important tips to stay safe and prepared:
- Review DLC’s Storm Plan on what to do before, during and after an outage.
- Report outages at https://bit.ly/3wpo3Bh or through the free DLC Mobile app. Those who don’t have internet access can call 888-393-7000.
- Call 9-1-1 for any emergency medical issues that could be impacted by an outage.
- Avoid any downed power lines and give ample space to lineworkers.
- Avoid walking under or around dead or dying trees.
Stay safe, Pittsburgh!

For the 2026 tax year, which started Jan. 1, 2026, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBA) (signed into law on July 4, 2025), allows for people who take the standard deduction on their Form 1040 tax return to still be able to deduct charitable contributions.
The allowed deduction limits for those who do not itemize are $1,000 for single tax filers, and $2,000 for those who are Married Filing Jointly with a spouse. This deduction for non-itemizers is limited to cash donations ONLY (non-cash donations such as
clothing to Goodwill would not be included)
Perrysville VFC would like to humbly request that you keep our qualified charitable organization in mind when deciding which organizations you will support.
Note: This does not apply to your tax return that is being filed now, the 2025 tax return, but will apply to this current year.

⚠️ Downed power lines are extremely dangerous. Always assume any downed or low-hanging line is energized — even if you do not see sparks, smoke, or hear noise. Electricity can travel through the ground and nearby objects, creating a serious risk of injury or death. For safety, stay at least 30 feet away from downed distribution lines and at least 100 feet away from downed transmission lines. If you encounter a downed line, keep your distance and immediately report it to local authorities or your utility company. Your safety comes first — stay far away and stay safe.
DOWNED WIRE OR POLE? Call 911 to Report the Downed Power Line. The 911 operator will report the downed line to FirstEnergy. Never approach or attempt to move a line under any circumstances. Customers with a communication disability can report a downed wire using the appropriate TTY/TDD relay service.
