In today's Wall Street Journal Opinion, MSC's Jim Welty calls out the hypocrisy of anti-domestic energy groups placing blame on the sector for the lack of pipeline infrastructure to get clean, reliable energy to consumers.
"For nearly a decade, activist organizations have litigated, delayed and obstructed critical infrastructure projects designed to move cleaner American energy to consumers who need it most.
"The result? New England consumers continue to face some of the nation’s highest winter energy prices while the region periodically turns to higher-emitting fuel oil and imported liquefied natural gas to meet demand. Imports from countries such as Trinidad and Tobago, for example, have a methane intensity four times higher than Pennsylvania-produced natural gas."

Fourteen years later, Pennsylvania’s Act 13 continues to deliver for communities across the Commonwealth.
“Pennsylvanians didn’t have to choose between development and community safety or between economic growth and investment. We chose all of the above,” writes Jim Welty, President of the Marcellus Shale Coalition.
From funding local infrastructure with $3.1 billion+ in impact fee revenue to supporting 123,000 jobs across Pennsylvania, the benefits are tangible and ongoing.
Natural gas has also delivered $18 billion in consumer energy savings over the past two years, powering homes while investing directly back into communities.
Op-Ed: Act 13 a smart deal for Pennsylvania communities
When Pennsylvania’s Act 13 was signed into law 14 years ago, the goal of the bipartisan policy was straightforward: encourage responsible natural gas development, further strengthen environmental safeguards and ensure

“Pennsylvania sits atop one of the largest energy reserves in the world with enough natural gas resources under our feet to power the Commonwealth and the nation. But the economic potential of this resource can only be realized if government moves at the speed of business,” said MSC President Jim Welty.
The MSC and our members are grateful to have leaders like Senator McCormick.
