Hey Dems! Here is our last officer, President Sage Ferchalk! Here’s a bit about her and her plans for this year:
major: secondary history education.
year: junior.
I can remember when i was in middle school being an advocate for things in politics that concerned me at the time, and being met with people who did not agree with my perspective. It was the first time in my life I recognized that there were people who saw the world differently than I did. And, from what I perceived then, and now still to some extent, a way of viewing the world that was morally and ethically wrong.
I realized that if we want things for the world, we have to fight for them. I’ve had a great interest in being politically active ever since. I’ve been to protests, worked to spread awareness with Bernie Sanders’ campaign, and kept an interest in the world around me and the way I’m positioned in it through politics.
We have a tough fight ahead of us. But it’s my hope, through organizations like these, like politically active college clubs, we can make a real change in the world. I am so looking forward to working with the members of our club this coming semester, and i hope you are too!
As always, DM our account or one of our officers if you need something! Go Dems! 💙

Hey Dems! We have a few posts tonight, starting with introducing the rest of our board and then I’ll have an update on our next meeting, so make sure you check out all the posts!
Meet our Treasurer, Jocelyn!
major: elementary education
year: junior
I first got into politics during the 2016 election. I remember being one of the few people in my small town that didn’t want to vote red and I was appalled at the amount of people that had the complete opposite set of morals than I did. I still find it appalling. Seeing so many oppressed groups be completely disregarded and uncared for was disturbing and incredibly upsetting. Being able to make the necessary changes towards equality and a better country is my goal of being in organizations such as this one.
As always, feel free to DM our page for questions and suggestions! Go Dems! 💙
Hi Dems!
Some of you may remember me from last year, but my name’s Jess, I’m a sophomore poli sci and economics student, and I’m helping run the social media!
Obviously this is a very important year for our organization, so I’m excited to work with you all this year! I got into politics during the 2016 election and really connected with Bernie Sanders and his message. Seeing how few people were represented in our policy and systems was very frustrating and I wanted to be apart of the generation that made it better.
If you have any questions please feel free to DM our page or any of our officers, and please add us on Campus Link!

Hi Dems!
To start off the year, I’d like to introduce you to our current leadership!
First is our VP Alivia Montgomery, and here are a few stats and words from her:
Major: Public Relations & Business Administration
Year: Junior
From a young age, I understood the importance of being engaged in my local community. I witnessed many times how just one voice can open doors to endless possibilities towards improvement and change. I personally believe we all have the power, as individuals and as a group, to make an ever-lasting change in our communities by continuously educating ourselves and playing an active role in the fight towards a country where all are accepted, loved, and given equal opportunities. I’m a Duquesne Democrat because I believe in approaching issues with an open mind and an open heart. I believe we hold a great deal of responsibility to listen to each other, support each other, and love each other despite our differences.
If you have any questions about our club this year, please feel free to DM our page or anyone from our leadership!

From Duquesne Democrats President Robbie Goode:
Today is a difficult day for supporters of Senator Bernie Sanders. As our organization does not endorse any candidate, remaining neutral out of respect for all of our members’ opinions, I will candidly tell you that I was a strong supporter of Bernie. I, like many of you, have mixed emotions today. Anger. Pride. Sadness. Astonishment. What Bernie Sanders has done in his past two presidential campaigns are extraordinary. He has not run for office, he has truly started a political revolution. His platform at first 5 years ago seemed extreme. Radical. Impossible. Now, many of those ideas are mainstream. He has changed the way we view politics, society, and each other. He has started the movement, and now it is up to us to continue the movement. Continue to fight for people we don’t know. Continue to ensure that healthcare is a right, not a privilege in the wealthiest country on Earth. Continue to fight for living wages for the hardest working Americans. Continue to fight to end racial injustice and inequality.
So for the Bernie Sanders supporters and progressives alike, myself included, we have to keep fighting for what we believe in, for what we know is right and what we know will lead to a better, more loving, accepting and inspiring country. And remember through this difficult time: in many aspects, we’ve already won. We’ve already started the conversation and put forth the platform for real and necessary change. Policies like Medicare-For-All are supported by the majority of Americans now. We must keep fighting. We will keep fighting.
To Bernie: Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Take some time. The struggle continues.
