Had a bunch of our Fate simp friends come hang out and do a very casual shoot over the weekend. Nothing serious, we weren't really trying "that hard" to get pics, just rock up and see what happens. Wasn't really expecting the itasha club to rock up with their motorcycle contingent in tow to take some pics too! Definitely made it an even more awesome day!

One time I was talking to some scouts about some of the niche music I listen to. Like Les Rallies and the like. The one guy brought up how he really loved "this one band that's like, super underground and basically nobody listens to them."

The King James translation of the bible is hot garbage. Not worth the paper it's printed on.

The man who started it was executed for hersey for wanting to give the budding protestant movement an English version during the reformetion, leaving it unfinished. And mind you, he was translating from a translation, not the original language. Then years later the king of England decided to re-assert power by further distancing the Anglican church from the Catholic church, and re-used the unfinished manuscript.

In the process of finishing the translation, it was decided that "ew, a lot of this is really anti government. We don't like that, since this is supposed to legitimize the king as an envoy of God." So they deliberately changed multiple sections to be pro-monarchy. This is where changes like "No kings but God" would be changed to "No kinds above God." Which is subtle, but very significant. Now instead of God being the almighty power of the universe, your king was still supposed to be your power, as an envoy of that God.

Furthermore by 1946, only one company had printing rights to that translation. And we were at a pivotal time in the world. Communism was on the rise. The country was scared of a rising atheist movement. This was the era when "under God" was added to the pledge of allegiance.

The CIA and other government agencies got their fingers into the pot and CHANGED THE BIBLE. Because remember, the answer to "the government would never do that," is always "oh yes they would." First they had the publisher printing the King James version change multiple lines. This is when THE GOVERNMENT added the lines about homosexuality being a sin. This is when "a man (meaning an adult) shall not lay with a boy (meaning a child.)" Was changed to "a man shall not lay with another man." And that's only the most prominent example.

Out of the 2,026 year history (give or take) of Christianity, homosexuality has only "been a sin" for EIGHTY years, because the government decreed it so.

And then the government didn't stop there. They targeted Catholics and promoted Evangelical religions specifically because many of the traditional Catholic teachings of the time are too similar to Communism. This is when the American catholic church began to split away from the versions taught in the Vatican, especially on things like gay rights. Why? Because the pope is still teaching from the less muddled Greek and Latin translations that never got fiddled with by the government.

So yeah, if you cite the bible for why it's wrong, you're actually citing the US government. Not the words of Jesus Christ. After all, Jesus tells us believers to love everyone, regardless of color or creed. The only times he really does the opposite are adulterers, the wealthy who do not give their money away, the bankers who charge high interest and do not absolve debt after seven years, and those who use God's name as an excuse for their hate. (Which is the actual definition of using his name in vain)

Also bonus fun fact, in the book of Matthew, Jesus tells us that "For there are eunuchs who were born that way, and there are eunuchs who have been made eunuchs by others—and there are those who choose to live like eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. The one who can accept this should accept it." And if you account for the language pre-translation, the verbage used implies a feminine quality to at least some of it, which would be attributed to a * very * early way of describing trans women. So while yinz are debating on if they belong in a bathroom, Jesus says that they belong in Heaven.
