Around 1130am on 5/23 148 Engine was dispatched as the RIT company for a reported dryer fire in the Groveton Village section of Robinson Township. 244 Tanker arrived to find heavy smoke showing from a 2 story multi family dwelling. 148 Engine arrived and was assigned with laddering the building and utility control. Crews then shifted to assist with overhaul. 148 Engine operated on scene for just over an hour.

This past weekend 148 Rescue along with 4 members participated in the 24Hr ERS training event in Cranberry Township.

The 24Hr ERS is an opportunity for crews to think on the fly and continue to focus even when they are exhausted from calls or everyday life honing their skills including Medical calls, Rescue scenarios and Building fires.

Emsworth VFC would like to extend a huge thank you to the instructional staff of the ERS for once again allowing our members to be involved in such an amazing training opportunity.

Today (5/15), Members from Emsworth VFC, Peebles District Volunteer Fire Company and Bellevue Fire Department travelled to the Allegheny County Fire Academy to teach vehicle rescue skills to the Emergency response technology class at A.W. Beattie Career Center. Students started with basic stabilization of a car on its roof, side and all four wheels. Then worked into side removals, dash lifts and roof flaps.

Members of the listed organizations would like to thanks the students and faculty for the hospitality and willingness to learn!

At approximately 9:45pm, Station 148 along with 103 and 108, were alerted for an injured fisherman trapped on the river bank near the Emsworth Lock and Dam. Upon arrival, 148RQ, found an elderly male approximately 20 feet over the hillside on rocky terrain. Command then requested Station 258 for manpower. Crews set up a change of direction with a 3:1 to haul the male up the hillside. Rescue companies were able to get the male to level ground 25 minutes after dispatch and transfer the patient to Northwest EMS.
