It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of life member John Lattimore. John served the Blawnox-Glenover Volunteer Fire Company for many years, including many of those years as our President.

In addition to serving with the Blawnox-Glenover Volunteer Fire Company, John served our country as a member of the United States Air Force.

Always wanting to serve the community, John served on Blawnox Borough Council and as a board member of the Blawnox A-Club.

Please keep John’s family, friends and our community close in your hearts and in your prayers.

Funeral arrangements will be posted as soon as they are available.

A combination of high flows, fast currents and debris could make conditions hazardous for recreational boaters on the rivers, the National Weather Service says.

Please join us this Memorial Day as we come together to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. 🇺🇸

The parade will begin Monday, May 25th at 11:00 AM at Sunoco on Freeport Rd and will proceed to the Memorial Monument at the corner of North Ave and Freeport Rd.

Following the parade, there will be a ceremony honoring our fallen soldiers, followed by light refreshments.

We hope our community will join us as we pause to remember the true meaning of Memorial Day.

This week, we recognize and thank the men and women who answer the call when medical emergencies happen in our community.

From first responders and EMTs to paramedics and every emergency medical provider behind the scenes…thank you for the care, compassion, skill, and calm you bring to some of people’s hardest moments.

Whether it’s a late-night call, a difficult scene, or simply offering reassurance when someone is scared, your work matters more than words can fully express.

To our own members who respond to EMS calls alongside our neighboring agencies…and to emergency medical responders everywhere…we appreciate your dedication, sacrifice, and service.

Happy EMS Week from all of us at Blawnox VFC 🚑❤️
