It is with heavy hearts that the Pittsburgh Police K9 Unit announces the unexpected passing of 4yr old K9 Hans.

Hans was a Patrol/Explosive Detection K9 who began his service with the K9 Unit in November of 2021 while attending the Pittsburgh Police K9 school. K9 Hans and his handler Officer Clint Thimons graduated K9 school and hit the street in March of 2022.

We send our condolences to Officer Thimons and his family.

RIP Hans. Your loyal service to the City of Pittsburgh and its citizens will never be forgotten.
