When Iraj Chiani arrived in the United States from Iran in 1972, he could not have known that a move prompted by family would eventually lead to a 50-year connection with Mt. Lebanon.

Work on the Cedar fields project starts Monday, October 26. Seymour parking lot to close that day; lot between Middle and Dixon fields will be open. Fields, including batting cages, will stay open until November 9. Batting cages will be part of the active construction site and will close after November 9. The Historical Society of Mount Lebanon has an entire collection of photographs titled "History Mysteries." They're either undated, have unknown subjects, or unclear locations. Today's History Mystery from 1939 shows an American LaFrance fire engine, but the location of the photo is unknown. Let us know if you have any inklings on where this might have been taken!

ICYMI: Two celebrities with ties to Mt. Lebanon are on the Pittsburgh Walk of Fame!

Legendary Pittsburgh Steelers broadcaster Myron Cope and Hockey Hall of Famer and Pittsburgh Penguins great Mario Lemieux were among the 10 inductees earlier this week.

The Mt. Lebanon Ice Center has a new name: the Frank Gill Ice Rink.

The rink was renamed to honor Gill, a popular coach and board member of the Mt. Lebanon Hockey Association (MLHA), who died of cancer at age 47 in 2023.

Looking for ways to give back? Mt. Lebanon Nature Conservancy has a work day coming up on Sunday, October 25 at Twin Hills Park, 9 a.m. to noon. The conservancy’s 2026 project is improving a riparian zone along the stream in Twin Hills. Help plant native trees, shrubs and perennials. Meet at the Twin Hills Drive entrance. Bring a shovel and gloves if you have them.

Pick up a magnet in the lobby of the municipal building, 710 Washington Road, or the back entrance/lobby of the public safety building, 555 Washington Road.

Two celebrities with ties to Mt. Lebanon were honored at the second annual Pittsburgh Walk of Fame induction ceremony in Pittsburgh’s Strip District today.

Legendary Pittsburgh Steelers broadcaster Myron Cope and Hockey Hall of Famer and Pittsburgh Penguins great Mario Lemieux were among the 10 inductees honored with large bronze stars embedded in the sidewalk, between 16th and 21st Streets, at the Strip District Terminal along Smallman Street.
