🚧 ROAD WORK UPDATE 🚧
PennDOT and its subcontractor are preparing to begin the Baptist Road Reconstruction Project on June 15, 2026.
The project includes drainage upgrades, new concrete curb and gutter installation, and full-depth roadway reconstruction on Baptist Road from Brownsville Road to Hamilton Road.
Borough officials are scheduled to meet with PennDOT on Thursday to discuss the scope of work, construction timeline, traffic impacts, and detour plans.
We understand that the orange construction signs that appeared along Baptist Road last week have generated concerns and questions from residents. Rest assured, we share many of those same concerns and are seeking additional information so we can provide accurate updates to the community.
Please remember that this is a PennDOT project. Once we receive more details following Thursday’s meeting, we will share that information with residents as soon as possible.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to keep the community informed.

UPDATE ON MISSING TEEN:
Whitehall Police, along with their law enforcement partners, have charged a 27-year-old Nanticoke, Pa., man accused of luring a 14-year-old Whitehall teen from her home through social media. The case underscores the growing role digital platforms play in missing
persons cases.
The teen, who had been reported missing on Sunday, was found in Nanticoke, Pa., after investigators tracked online interactions that led them to the home of 27-year-old Christopher P. Jones. Jones was immediately taken into custody by the FBI Child Exploitation Task Force on an arrest warrant obtained by the Whitehall Borough Police Department. He faces charges of unlawful contact with a minor, interference with the custody of children, corruption of minors, and criminal attempt to commit several s*x offenses.
This was a coordinated investigation involving the Whitehall Borough Police Department; FBI Pittsburgh and Scranton Field Offices; United States Secret Service Pittsburgh Field Office; Allegheny County Police Department; Pennsylvania State Police; City of Nanticoke Police Department; Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office; and the United States Attorney’s Offices for the Western and Middle Districts of Pennsylvania.
