Our Wilkinsburg After-School girls got creative during their very first sewing lesson with the Craft and Couture Institute!

From learning the basics of sewing to exploring their creativity, our girls are building new skills, gaining confidence, and discovering the possibilities of fashion and design.

Our Gwen’s Girls had the opportunity to attend the ME Period Pittsburgh Screening, hosted by Healthy Start, Inc. Pittsburgh/Allegheny County!

The event sparked meaningful conversations about menstrual health, education, empowerment, and breaking the stigma surrounding periods.

We’re especially proud of Nickala, one of our very own Black Girls Advocacy and Leadership Alliance (BGALA) member, who served as a panelist, sharing her voice and perspective on this important topic!

Thank you to Healthy Start, Inc. for creating a space where young women can learn, share their experiences, and have their voices heard.

Exciting progress at Gwen’s Girls’ new forever home! 💜

Our CEO, Dr. Kathi Elliott, is back with another behind-the-scenes building update!

Things are really coming together! The elevator was installed, the STEM lab and recording studio are taking shape, and fresh paint and new carpeting are bringing our spaces to life.

Every milestone brings us one step closer to opening the doors to a space where girls can learn, create, grow, and thrive.

A New School Year, New Opportunities!

September marked the beginning of another exciting year of after-school programming at Gwen’s Girls!

We were thrilled to welcome our girls back for a new school year filled with opportunities to learn, grow, build friendships, and discover their potential.

Through engaging activities, educational experiences, and supportive relationships, our programs continue to provide spaces where girls can develop confidence, explore their interests, and strengthen the skills they need to thrive.

We look forward to all the learning, laughter, and memorable experiences this school year will bring!

Dr. Elliott’s dedication to empowering girls and young women, advocating for equity, and creating opportunities for the next generation continues to make a meaningful impact throughout our community.
