Don't worry. The dogs and their handlers aren't going anywhere....per se, they are moving to our main page, Allegheny Mountain Rescue Group.

Springdale VFD and AMRG's VRSR water rescue team held a joint training on the Allegheny River this morning.

K9s and K9 handlers practiced working on the AMRG's boat as well as Springdale VFD's pontoon boat.

Boat operators, new and veteran, worked with each K9 handler on their searching preference pattern and honing in on their skills to provide the most successful and complete search task.

AMRG's boat, swift water rescue technicians, and search dogs are available to assist with water searches on rivers and lakes through Region 13 and the surrounding areas and states. And water rescue teams interested in learning more about our VRSR water search capabilities or interested in doing a joint water search training in your area, reach out and send us a message.

When the call comes in, Allegheny Mountain Rescue Group (AMRG) volunteers leave their work or homes—often in the middle of the night—to search for missing children and dementia patients, victims of floods and drowning, rescue injured climbers and cavers, and assist law enforcement in missing person investigation. We are proud members of the 𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐀𝐛𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦, and we never charge for our services.

But we can't do it without your support.

In 2024, AMRG 50+ members and search dogs responded to incidents in 8 Pennsylvania Counties and 2 neighboring states. These incidents ranged from missing person searches, post-hurricane flood response, evidence and criminal investigation searches, and cave rescues. Our volunteers dedicated 2,244 hours to mission responses and 9,695 hours to training, classes, and public relations events, including providing training classes to more than 200 law enforcement officers and first responders. We are on track to meet or exceed that level of effort this year, and responded to 20 incidents in the first half of 2025.

From rugged backcountry rescues to urban searches, our work saves lives—and it's 𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐛𝐲 𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮. AMRG receives NO public funding or tax dollars, and we are funded completely by grants and donations

How your gift can helps us:
- $50 fills up the tank of gas to get our truck to a search scene
- $250 covers radios for 1 ground team.
- $350 provides one uniform rain jacket to keep a volunteer visible and dry
- $500 helps 1 search dog team attend a certification seminar.
- $1,250 helps us buy a new cave rescue litter.
- AMRG spends $10,000 just to keep the lights on and pay for rent, insurance, and the mapping, and alerting systems we use on every mission

First of 3 opportunities that members get to go out on the water to familiarize themselves with the Team boat. Boat operators practiced launching, boat handling, and docking; while K9 handlers and their dogs became familiar with the boat's casting deck.

Congratulations to David Stager with K9 Xena & Abby Davis with K9 Echo for passing NSDA 80 acre certification.

This past weekend AMRG's K9 Team spent 3 days with Matt Zarrella and Jeremy Pell, American Riot K9 Training. They each worked on their skills and gained valuable knowledge in air scent.

Congratulations 🎊 👏 to the following AMRG K9 handlers and their dogs on their new live find area search certifications through the International Police Working Dog Association.
