Visit Happenstance Cafe this month (Oct) and help support our NO SENIOR SHOULD GO HUNGRY initiative.

NO SENIOR SHOULD GO HUNGRY. 🩵💚

This October, we’re turning our community giving toward Meals on Wheels through CYA, right here in the heart of Lawrenceville.

For the first time, Allegheny County has a waitlist for vulnerable seniors trying to access Meals on Wheels. Many of these neighbors live alone and have no other support system.

Less than a mile from Happenstance, CYA operates one of the largest Meals on Wheels programs in the county — and right now, they’re working to build and deliver 192 Emergency Boxes to local seniors. These boxes provide shelf-stable meals and essential comfort items to help seniors stay safe, warm, and nourished during winter snowstorms and extreme heat.

Sadly, funding that previously supported these emergency boxes has been cut.

So this October, 1% of every dollar spent at Happenstance will go directly toward supporting this effort.

Grab breakfast. Meet a friend for coffee. Come in for dinner. Every visit helps us give a little more back to our neighbors.

And if you’d like to make an additional contribution, you can sponsor an Emergency Box for $40, donate goods or monetary funds, or simply help spread the word.

We love being part of this neighborhood. This month, we’re asking our Happenstance community to help make sure our neighbors don’t go hungry.
