Independent unit of government in the City of Pittsburgh Created by referendum amendment to the Home Rule Charter of the City of Pittsburgh.
A volunteer Board of seven members selected by the Mayor and City Council commissioned to receive, investigate, hold public hearings and render facts and recommendations to the Chief of Police and the Mayor on individual complaints of police conduct, police policies & procedures, recruitment, hiring, training and retention of police officers and to improve relations between the community and Pittsburgh police.

This week, Acting Police Chief Lando and Acting Public Safety Director Williams met with the City’s Safer Together Coordinators from the Office of Community Services & Violence Prevention to collaborate on new and innovative ways to best serve Pittsburgh communities.
Safer Together Coordinators work in the six zones throughout the city to connect residents with Public Safety resources and help strengthen relationships with first responders in their communities.
