Busy End to May for Company 297
We wrapped up the month of May with a busy and meaningful week.
The week began with our annual participation in the Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony at our local VFW, where we joined the community in honoring the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.
The remainder of the week kept members busy, as Company 297 responded to 34 calls for service, including reported structure fires, two contained cooking fires, motor vehicle accidents, alarm activations, and numerous medical emergencies.
As always, we thank our residents for their continued and ongoing support as our fund drive continues to run and our sure tip raffles start up again as well.

π Fund Drive Reminder π
Approximately one month ago, donation letters for the West View Volunteer Fire Department annual fund drive were mailed to residents and businesses throughout our community. If you have not yet had the opportunity, please take a moment to check your mail and consider supporting your volunteer fire department. We have attached photos of what was sent out to confirm this as a legitimate donation request to the fire department and not a scam attempt by an outside party.
Currently, only 10β15% of residential households have contributed, and only 5 commercial properties have donated so far. Your support plays a critical role in helping us maintain equipment, training, apparatus, and emergency response services for our community.
We would like to sincerely thank everyone who has already returned their donation. Your continued support and generosity are greatly appreciated and help keep the West View Volunteer Fire Department ready to answer the call 24/7.
Every contribution β large or small β makes a difference.
If you would like to make a donation online instead of sending the mailer back in, please scan our QR code in the 2nd picture or click this link https://bit.ly/WestViewVFD

Members of the West View Volunteer Fire Department recently completed a 16-hour Emergency Vehicle Driver Training (EVDT) course to continue sharpening the skills needed to safely respond to emergencies in our community.
The course consisted of 8 hours of classroom instruction and 8 hours of hands-on practical training focused on defensive driving, apparatus handling, emergency response operations, and the responsibilities that come with safely operating emergency vehicles.
A total of 18 members successfully completed the class, continuing their commitment to professionalism and public safety.
We would also like to extend a sincere thank you to Chief Wesley Semple from AHN Prehospital Care Services for instructing the course and sharing his knowledge and experience with our members.

FUND DRIVE ANNOUNCEMENT
May has been designated as the start of our annual fund drive. Resident donation mailers for the West View Volunteer Fire Department have officially been placed in the mail, and we ask all residents and business owners to please keep an eye out for them in the coming days.
Your donations are what keep our department operating day to day. From emergency response, equipment, and training along with our day-to-day expenses. Community support plays a direct role in allowing us to continue serving and protecting West View and the surrounding area.
Just a reminder you do not have to be a resident to donate to help with our mission, if you would like to contribute you can follow the link https://bit.ly/WestViewVFD or simply scan the QR Code on the attached flyer. We will be starting our monthly sure tips up again in June so please keep an eye out for them.
We would also like to extend a sincere THANK YOU to everyone who has already donated to this yearβs fund drive. Your generosity and continued support mean more than words can express.
As always, we are proud to serve this community β and we couldnβt do it without you.

Company 297 operated with nine members yesterday for approximately two hours as the first due truck on the 2nd Alarm of a house fire in McKees Rocks. The Company primarily handled opening up, checking for extension and supplementing suppression efforts on the 2nd division for majority of the incident. Chief 297 also operated as the 2nd division supervisor for a large portion of the incident as well.

Please use caution in the area of the 300 block of Perry Highway. The Engine as well as Fire Police are in the area due to a fire hydrant that was sheared off as a result of a hit & run and is now sending water down multiple hills and into a few residences. West View Water Authority has been notified and there are no current travel restrictions in the area but again please use caution while in the area as our crews operate.
