Great stuff found at James Sharp Landing! They found an old Chevy Tailgate, snakeskin, car doors, semi truck tire, lots of cigarette butts, and an assortment of other trash.

Some other great pictures of Fox Chapel Area High School students and other volunteers cleaning up throughout Sharpsburg.

Thank you volunteers!

Tomorrow's the big day! Our Annual Sharpsburg-Etna Earth Day Challenge!

If you're already volunteering - great! Make sure you take plenty of pictures and tag Sharpsburg Environmental Advisory Council or Sharpsburg Neighborhood Organization, and use the hashtags in the caption.

If you're not volunteering and you want to, you can still pick up your gear (gloves, vest, garbage bags) at the Borough building tomorrow morning.

It does look like rain in the forecast, so make sure you dress accordingly! Please be safe and continue to social distance. See you tomorrow!

We are incredibly saddened to hear of the passing of one of the founding members of the Sharpsburg EAC and prominent public figure in our town, Robert Snakeguy Habegger. The cause of death appears to be COVID19.

Fondly known as the Snakeguy, Robert was an active participant in most - if not all - community activities. He would often bring his beloved snakes to our fairs and teach kids and adults how to handle a snake. He also made and sold delicious spices/pepper products.

Most importantly, he was a kind-hearted fellow who helped his community at every opportunity.

Everyone, please continue to take precautions this holiday season by wearing a face covering and practicing social distancing. Robert was too young to go, and will be sorely missed by the entire Sharpsburg community.

Sincerely,
Erin Lane, MLIS
