Happy Juneteenth! Today we celebrate the unyielding spirit of the Black community here in Allegheny County, and across the country. We acknowledge the fight for freedom and the resilience that grows in the face of adversity; and we commit ourselves to a movement that ensures true freedom for all.

Last week our Licensing Manager Kat Fort joined the local Pennsylvania Dog Wardens in Greentree to raise awareness about the importance of licensing your dog.

Our local dog wardens are hard at work canvassing countywide to ensure that dogs are licensed, safe and healthy. With their partnership, our office is on-track to see the first increase in dog license sales since 2020!

Government, at its best, is ultimately about people. And our office had the pleasure of meeting the next generation of young leaders at Pennsylvania Center for Women and Politics' New Leadership Keynote Dinner. Treasurer Brusselars delivered a keynote speech that reminds us that government is people trying to solve problems, improve systems, serve communities, and respond to human needs.

We're grateful for these opportunities to support young leaders and remind ourselves that our work is not some abstract machine operating somewhere far away, it's people in rooms like these.
