Hey, eighth grade families! 👋 Join us on Friday, May 29, as the North Hills Middle School celebrates the Class of 2030 during the annual 8th Grade Academic Awards Assembly beginning at 9:15 a.m. in the middle school auditorium. (Doors open at 9 a.m.)

The celebration will recognize students for academic achievement, leadership and character, while also featuring musical performances and special student honors! 🤩 One of the best parts of the event? Students do not know ahead of time if they have won an award, making for plenty of exciting surprise moments throughout the ceremony!

Please note: This is not a graduation ceremony where all students are recognized on stage, and the event will not be livestreamed. Families attending may take their student home following the assembly's conclusion at approximately 11:30 a.m. We hope to see you there!

A huge thank you to magician and illusionist Rick Smith Jr. for visiting North Hills Middle School and amazing our students earlier this week! 🎩✨ From mind-blowing magic and card throwing to mental influence tricks and incredible trick shots, students were wowed from start to finish.

Rick is an 8-time Guinness World Record holder and has earned more than 700 million views on YouTube. He has also been featured on America's Got Talent, Shark Tank, late-night talk shows and other national talent programs.

The performances were sponsored by the middle school Student Council and the Strong as Steel positive behavior program. 🖤💛

Our very own Finn Lionetti is making moves in the world of ninja athletics! 💪

Finn, an eighth grader, recently took 1st place at the Ultimate Ninja Athlete Association Regional Championship in Akron, Ohio — completing all 16 obstacles with a “full clear” and finishing 36 seconds ahead of the competition! His win qualifies him for the UNAA World Series Finals this July in Harrisburg, PA. He’s also heading to the World Ninja League World Championships in June after a strong finish earlier this season.

We are of Finn's hard work and can’t wait to cheer him on this summer! 🌍🏆

We had a "hound"-erful day at the middle school today! 🖤⚽️💛 Students had a special visit today from the Pittsburgh Riverhounds thanks to our Strong as Steel rewards program, Student Council and Physical Education Department. Matt Meyers, a current Riverhounds Academy coach and summer camps director, led a coaching session for our boys and girls North Hills Middle School soccer teams before stepping in as a guest PE teacher for the afternoon. Students also got to meet Amo, the Riverhounds mascot, who brought plenty of energy to the gym and even stopped by sixth and seventh grade lunches to say hello! 🐶👋 The team's USL Championship Trophy was also on display for students to see. 🏆🙌 Thank you to the Riverhounds for spending the day with us!

📚✨ Team Heinz students took learning beyond the classroom last week! About 110 students visited the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh Main Library to dive into historic newspapers, photo archives, rare collections, and more — all for their oral history projects. Paired with interviews of community members, their research will turn into documentaries or children’s books! 🎥📖 A big thanks to the AMLE Community Engagement Award Grant for helping make this hands-on learning possible every year.
