Allegheny County Council is the legislative branch of the county government, consisting of fifteen elected officials serving four-year terms.

Thirteen members are elected by district and two elected county-wide, per the Allegheny County Home Rule Charter. Allegheny County Council is the legislative branch of Allegheny County government. The Council consists of 15 elected officials – 13 district representatives and two at-large members. These 15 members represent the constituency of the County and are each elected to a term of four years

Last night, marked a historic moment for Allegheny County, as Council Member Michelle Naccarati-Chapkis becomes the first woman to serve as Council President. With this election, women now lead all three branches of Allegheny County government for the first time in our county’s history.
