Pittsburgh Toy Lending Library and Playspace

Thanks again to Christen Kraemer, LPC, for offering us another wonderful session on social emotional development through story, song, and craft! Christen will take a break through this summer, but plans to be back in August for a Back to School session! Thanks so much to Christen for offering her time, energy, and expertise!

Christen Kraemer, LPC, is back this Sat. May 30 in our playspace for another Emotions in Motion Story and Craft Time that’s sure to be fun!

We are so very lucky to have Christen doing this event series that also allows parents/caregivers to chat with a licensed child therapist as their kids are making their crafts! If you’ve not attended yet, now’s the time :)

We offer lending-only membership, but we love it when people become volunteer members! We can always use more volunteers, and it’s just a 2 hour/month requirement in exchange for playspace access almost daily and borrowing up to 4 toys a month!

You’re invited to join us on Sat. May 23 to chat with a pediatric speech-language pathologist from during our public play session! Play starts at 9:30am and the event starts at 10:00! Ask questions and get info on typical language development for toddlers and preschoolers! See you there!

Are you crafty? Do you have a knack for organizing art supplies to entice creativity in children? Are you looking for a way to be more involved at the Toy Library? Then you may be a great candidate for our next Art Room Coordinator! Email Shea at [email protected] to learn more!

Did you know the Pgh Toy Lending Library has a number of large toys to borrow, like this Little Tikes trampoline, which focus on development of gross motor skills?

With your lending membership, check out our back room for these larger toys! If the one you want isn’t in, ask a volunteer to check when it’s due back!

We hope to see you this Saturday morning, 10am, in our playspace for a very special author visit. Lorrie Cranor will read her book, Privacy, Please! and she will answer questions and sign copies of her book if anyone wishes to purchase. As always, events like this are free to members, and since this is during a public play session, nonmembers would pay $7 per child over the age of one. Hope to see you!

My kiddo keeps coming back to this really cool road-building set at the Toy Library! Build it, drive cars on it, tear it down and start over again! Come and play with this in our space - all pieces in a basket in the vehicles area!

Big feelings ARE ok! Borrow this Moods and Emotions Mirrors play kit from us to help your kiddos learn all about their feelings and how others may feel at times!

You can become a lending-only member, but it’s WAY more fun to be a volunteer member and you get lots of perks, like discounted birthday parties, and up to $5 of snacks free when you are on your shift!
