Today is LGBTQIA+ Equal Pay Awareness Day. This isn't a day to celebrate, but rather an observance highlighting the challenges faced by LGBTQIA+ workers. Although the U.S. Census Bureau does not currently collect the data needed to calculate the LGBTQIA+ pay gap, an analysis by the HRC Foundation suggests that full time LGBTQ+ workers earn about 90 cents for every dollar the typical worker earns, and 29% of LGBTQ+ workers surveyed by the Center for American Progress said discrimination has significantly impacted their financial well-being.
Spread the word about the challenges LGBTQIA+ workers face and contact your representatives in support of pay equity. Together, we can create a community where everyone thrives. Learn more about the Level Up Greater Pittsburgh Pay Equity Campaign at ywcapgh.org/pay-equity

Join us Wednesday, June 17 from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. on Zoom and Facebook Live for an Action Conversation on Courts for Equality. ASL interpretation is provided. Register now at ywcapgh.org/conversations.
Courts have long been central arenas in the struggle for equality, serving as spaces where unjust laws are challenged and fundamental rights are defined and defended. This panel explores how impact litigation is used to confront discrimination based on race, gender, and other identities, while also examining the limits of legal systems in delivering true justice. Panelists from the Women's Law Project discuss how the fight for equality continues both inside and beyond the courtroom in pursuit of peace, justice, dignity, and freedom for all.
Moderator: Judy Hale - Director of Pro Bono Services, Pennsylvania Bar Association
Panelists:
+ Liliam Clavijo Hernandez - Legal Fellow, Women's Law Project
+ Maeve Plummer - Former Client and Board Member, Women's Law Project
+ Sujaya Rajguru - Staff Attorney, Women's Law Project
