Out with the old...responsibly!

Replacing an old refrigerator, washing machine, microwave, or other appliance? Make sure you dispose of it properly!

🤝 Give it another life: If it still works, consider donating it or selling it so someone else can put it to use.

♻️ Recycle it: Many appliances contain valuable metals and materials that can be recovered and reused. Most scrap metal yards accept appliances for recycling. Call to confirm if they accept your specific item before you go, especially for freon-containing appliances (appliances that provide cooling like air conditioners, dehumidifiers, freezers)

🚚 Curb-side Disposal - Many waste hauler companies offer curbside pickup for bulky items, including appliances. This typically requires an appointment, and a fee may apply. Contact your waste hauler that picks up your curbside trash to inquire about the services available to you.

One less appliance in the landfill means more materials that can be put to good use!

The Deer Management Study Survey is open until November 1st. If you haven't already, now is your chance to share your experiences and thoughts regarding deer in your area.

Southeast Michigan continues to see rising urban deer populations, leading to more vehicle accidents, property damage and higher risks tied to Lyme disease and other illnesses. While many residents enjoy seeing deer, communities are working to balance those experiences with growing safety and ecological concerns.

The Southeast Michigan Urban Deer Coalition has recently launched a new urban deer survey in partnership with SEMCOG, Southeast Michigan Council of Governments. The survey will remain open until November 1, 2026.
