We’re excited to share a few more in-production progress pictures of our newest “A-1” unit - moving down the line at Horton Emergency Vehicles. We expect to place this unit in service in early 2027, with another new type 1 unit to follow later in 2027. One thing about the GPRA - we’re never standing still!

Chief Schrader has now assumed full operational command and control of the GPRA. Chief Mike Ankenbrand is returning to his previous rank of Deputy Chief of Operations.

The GPRA extends our gratitude and respect to Mike for stepping up and leading the GPRA through our interim period. His leadership allowed us to conduct the exhaustive search process that ultimately led us to Chief Schrader. Deputy Chief Nate Sewell was also tremendously helpful in our transition period. He brings a lifetime of experience and wisdom to the table, not to mention being one of our longest tenured members.

Suffice it say, as we move forward together, the GPRA is in good hands. The sky is the limit and we have exciting plans for the future. It’s always been part of our DNA to innovate, and that’s just what we intend to do!

The GPRA is thrilled to announce that we have received a Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development grant facilitated by Rep. Jim Haddock to purchase a brand new Horton Emergency Vehicles Ford F-550 Type 1 ambulance unit through VCI Emergency Vehicles! Delivery of this unit is expected Summer 2027, and will follow a Type 3 unit currently in production.

We sincerely thank Representative Haddock for his ongoing interest and support of our mission. Welcoming Rep. Haddock for the ceremonial check presentation at HQ earlier this afternoon was VP M. Lombardo, Chief Schrader, Deputy Chiefs Ankenbrand and Sewell and CFO Corcoran

Every three years, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport conducts a full scale emergency preparedness exercise to ensure the operational readiness of AVP ARFF Station 266 and its mutual aid partners for any aircraft emergencies. As always, GPRA was proud to participate. This was Chief Schrader’s first exercise as GPRA Chief, and he would handle EMS command duties

There’s never a dull moment at the GPRA, but even so, we still make time for our special community events. GPRA Captain E. Thomas and EMT C. Cawley stopped by at this weekend’s trunk or treat event at the WVIA studios in Jenkins Township. We joined our colleagues at Jenkins Township Fire Dept. and Jenkins Township P.D.

Friday nights, football and the GPRA just go together. Every year the GPRA provides courtesy stand by coverage at dozens of special community events throughout our Greater Pittston communities. If you’re at one of our local football games, look over at the sidelines and you’re bound to see a GPRA crew!

The GPRA is built on a foundation of pride and tradition. Many of our members can trace their connections to our organization back generations. Proud to see this crew turned out tonight to provide standby coverage at tonight’s Pittston Area homecoming game - longtime GPRA member Frank Cawley and one of our newest members, his son Connor. The movie never ends, it goes on and on at the GPRA!
